In this post, I am going to show you how to install Iconem - Aleppo AR on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

Step By Step Guide To Install Iconem - Aleppo AR using BlueStacks

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. If your APK/XAPK file doesn't automatically open BlueStacks, right-click on it and select Open with... Browse to the BlueStacks. This app lets you explore the 3D model of the damaged Ancient City of Aleppo, Syria, in Augmented Reality (AR). This digital copy, recording the state of the Ancient City in April 2017, was produced by Iconem using drone acquired photographs and satellite imagery based damage assessments by UNOSAT.

Download and print the marker, or access it with another device at the URL: http://aleppo-ar.iconem.com/

Point your phone camera at the marker. You should see the 3D model appearing over the marker.
You can control the angle of view by moving your device directly. The controls on the right let you discover annotations on several major monuments of the Ancient City and switch between a 3D view and a map view.

This application was developed under the patronage of UNESCO, in partnership with UNOSAT, UNITAR’s Satellite Applications Programme and DGAM – the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums, Syria.
