▷ How to check the driving license points of the online DGT
- The fastest method to perform the online query of your points is the username and password, although you can also validate with access through the Cl @ ve system or with digital certificate . If you have previously used the service of the General Directorate of Traffic, you will have a password to enter. If this is the first time you do it, you can ask for the password and they will send it to your e-mail or phone instantly.

How to check your driving license points of the DGT in person
- You can request the balance of points by moving to any of the provincial traffic headquarters, requesting an appointment.

▷ How the points card works
- The maximum number of points that a driver can have is 15 points.
- The initial balance of the card is 8 points. If you spend 3 years without infractions, add another 4 points to reach 12 points. If no infractions are committed in the next 3 years, they become 14. And if there are no infractions in the next 3 years, you get 15, the maximum possible.
- According to data from the DGT, between the years 2006-2016 losing all the points of the card 214,150 drivers.

▷ How can my points be recovered from the card (if you have not reached 0 points)
- Option 1: You can recover up to 6 points by completing a road reeducation course, which will take 12 hours and you can do once every two years or every year in the case of professional drivers. The theoretical exam is done in the center.
- Option 2: After 2 years without having been sanctioned with loss of points, you will recover the entire initial credit of points (12 for experienced drivers and 8 for novice drivers). However, in the event that the loss of any of the points was due to the commission of very serious infractions, the term to recover the entire credit will be three years.

▷ How you can recover the driving license (if you have reached 0 points)
- You can recover the circulation permit, with a balance of eight points, conducting a road awareness and reeducation course that will be 24 hours long and that may be done during the duration of the loss of validity.
- In addition, once the period of duration of the loss of validity has elapsed (6 months for drivers in general and 3 months for professional drivers), you must pass a theoretical test that will deal with the contents of the course. To carry out this test, you must request an appointment for an examination at the Provincial Traffic Headquarters.
