We are an Issuer of public interest, between the academy and the citizen, to build citizen interest and the formation of the social fabric, to promote knowledge of the institutional actions of the University of La Guajira, for the participatory integration of the community through the creation of public opinion, the knowledge of identities, and the formation of a critical thought that contributes to the strengthening of the processes that are carried out with peace, harmony, social justice, equity and respect for the development of human rights.

The station Uniguajira Estéreo was born as a need to be a channel of communication between the institution and citizens for the dissemination of science, education and technology, as part of the fulfillment of the Alma Mater's vision of generating from higher education a true transformation in the Department of La Guajira. Thus, in 2012, efforts were initiated to achieve this objective, resulting in the first resolution (003382 of December 17, 2012) issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, declaring the viability of the request presented by Alma Mater. 10 months later, on October 29 of the year 2013, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies through Resolution 0004158 of October 29, 2013, granted by license to the University of La Guajira the concession to lend in direct management the public service of sound broadcasting of public interest. Today the Uniguajira Estéreo 89.3 FM station "The Sign of Knowledge" is the only university station in the Department of La Guajira and a means of intercommunication between the academy and the community, to build citizen interest and the formation of the social fabric and of a thought critical that contributes to the strengthening of processes of peace, harmony and respect for human rights.
