Established in 1986, Government College of Engineering Kannur is one of the elite institutes owned by the Government of Kerala. The college is functioning in a sprawling 68-acre scenic campus, having sound and self-sufficient infrastructure, at Mangattuparamba, near the National Highway, 15 k.m from the headquarters of Kannur district. It offers Bachelors, Masters & Doctoral Programmes in the field of engineering education and research.

The institute is recognized by Kerala Technological University as a ‘Centre of Excellence in Systems, Energy & Environment’ and it is also approved as a Technology Business Incubation Centre under the MSME (Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India). Research works are being carried out in collaboration with Delft University, The Netherlands, to display the cutting edge technologies from all over the globe. Over the years, the institute has created its own niche in the society through its achievements in and contributions to the industry & academics.

Established in 2007, Xplore is the National Techno-Management Cultural Symposium of Government College of Engineering Kannur organized by The College Union for encouraging technology, scientific thinking and innovation. Set up initially by a group of student visionaries as a humble symposium, Xplore now provides a unique platform for the students, intellectuals, and Mavericks to showcase their talents and skills. With diverse themes and topics united by a thread of relevance in four days, Xplore strives for one and all to get inspired and look up to. It aims at developing sustainable solutions to alleviate the society of its banal yet significant problems with technology conclaves, fruitful discussions, fierce competitions and informative lectures.

Xplore’19 bears the agenda “The Conflation of Sustainable and Pioneering Technology to beget an Empowered Society”. We seek to bring the leaders of today and tomorrow on a common platform to deliberate upon ideas and issues that exist both within and beyond the realm of technology. A broad spectrum of themes has been included this year to apprise visionaries about the potential challenges that confront them and to pursue the dream of realizing a creative, inventive and sustainable society.
