Our app has been developed in collaboration with two psycho-specialists specialized in mindfulness, who have participated from the conceptualization of the project to the elaboration of the meditations and the explanatory videos.
The project is born of the desire to look for how to help a person with cancer or how to help relatives of cancer patients, specifically patients with multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer.
The program was tested with 6 patients with multiple myeloma, obtaining very positive results, which is why the Mi momento (My Moment) app has been launched, which makes it possible to make the practice of mindfulness accessible to all people seeking emotional support or psychological help.
How can mindfulness help you?
Through meditation and mindfulness exercises, we learn to focus on the present moment, to focus on the here and now. With practice we can relax the mind and become aware of our emotions in order to manage them better.
To enhance the effects of meditation, it is advisable to practice it in a place free of noise or distracting elements and with a comfortable temperature. It is important to deactivate alarms and devices that may disturb the process. It can be practiced with background music as long as it is relaxing and does not distract our attention.
Multiple clinical studies have shown the beneficial effects of mindfulness-based therapies such as psychological support, depression relief and therapy for anxiety, psychological disorders that are frequently experienced by people affected by cancer.1-6
