Nidji is a refinement of the name from the word Niji taken from the Japanese language which means rainbow. The personnel have liked and agreed to the concept with that name, because the word Nidji reflects the colors of their music as diverse and different from each other, but can refract it in one musical color.

The concept of Nidji music is modern rock that combines other elements, such as progressive, funk, alternative, and pop. Bands that indirectly influenced and inspired Nidji's music, including L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel, Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, U2, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve, Dave Matthews, The Killers, Keane , etc. [1]

In 2017, after Giring Ganesha decided to go into politics and leave Nidji. This band decided to vacuum. But five Nidji personnel besides Giring Ganesha, have a project to give birth to NEV Plus, as an acronym for Nidji Electronic Version Plus. This project is planned to be realized in 2018.

This section requires development. You can help by developing it.
The early history of the formation of the band Nidji is that of friendship between Rama and Andro. Their friendship continued to grow in the world of music. Then with Ariel who had joined them, a song called "Maria" was created. But the song isn't perfect yet and still needs a vocal. Then they meet Giring who can then complete the song "Maria" by filling out vocals on the song.

After that, Andro recommended Adri, who previously had frequent jam sessions with him to take up the position of drummer. The four of them (Ariel, Andro, Adri, and Giring) then contacted Rama who had separated before the creation of the song "Maria" to try to play music together until finally finding a compatible vision and mission.

In early February 2002, Nidji was formed in the initial formation. Then in early April 2005, Nidji added his personnel to six, namely a keyboardist named Randy who was a friend of Giring, the vocalist. Style 'picking guava' Sleigh while singing makes Nidji a unique and attractive band.

Band personnel
Sleigh Ganesha - vocal
Andi Ariel Harsya - guitar
Ramadhista Akbar - guitar
Randy Danistha - keyboardist, synthesizer
Andro Regantoro - bass
Adri Prakarsa - drum
Of the 6 personnel of Nidji, 4 of them have Minangkabau blood from their parents, namely Giring, Andro, Rama, and Randy. This they said in front of the audience when holding a concert in Padang, West Sumatra. He said this concert was a concert back home for those of us who were Minang. [2]
