This is Network Movement for Democracy & Human Rights (NMDHR) OFFICIAL Mobile App. This App will provide latest information and updates about our work and the impact of our interventions across Sierra Leone. It is created to give easy access to our partners, potential partners and the world at large connecting with us in real-time. NMDHR envisage a world where human rights and democratic principles and values are promoted and protected
We promote human rights and governance issues through training, dialogue, advocacy, lobby and campaigns to change the mind-set of the people and increase people’s participation in governance so that development and peace can take place.
Network Movement for Democracy and Human Rights (NMDHR) is a coalition of 28 Community Based Development and Human Rights Organizations that is registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), local District Councils and the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO).
NMDHR started operations in Sierra Leone since June 2002, in order to alleviate the indiscriminate violation of human rights so as to assist in promoting governments’ recovery process and enhancement of peaceful co-existence among its peoples. Being inspired by our vision to see a world where human rights and democratic principles and values are promoted and protected, the coalition’s strategic areas of work includes education, women and children’s health, youth development, governance and participation, gender and child protection.
Our mission is to promote human rights and governance issues through trainings, dialogues, advocacy, lobbying and campaigns to change the mind-set of the people and increase people’s participation in governance so that development and peace can take place.
Over the years, NMDHR have implemented series of projects with funding from CORDAID, ODI, OSIWA, ASJP, USAID etc. across six districts (Kailahun, Koinadugu, Pujehun, Tonkolili, Western Rural and Western Urban) through it offices in Freetown and Kailahun respectively. NMDHR is a member organisation of the National Election Watch Watch, Coalition for Quality and Accessible Education, and the Movement Against Inequality in Sierra Leone. We have good working relationship with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone, National Commission for Democracy and the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs.
Today, thousands of women and girls across Sierra Leone are victims and survivors of domestic violence; millions of them lack access to adequate healthcare facilities, thousands of rural children are out of school due to poverty and early marriage in communities like Kailahun, Koinadugu, Tonkolili and more. As human right violations, child abused, high instances of infant mortality continue to affect children in Sierra Leone, the Network Movement for Democracy and Human Rights (NMDHR) has contributed immensely by working with link minded organizations such as Campaign for Good Governance, Advocacy Movement Network, Peace and reconciliation Movement, Methodist Church Sierra Leone, Pikin to Pikin Movement etc. to complement the effort of the government of Sierra Leone achieving a number of sustainable develop goals,
