e-Toll is an electronic card used to pay for toll road entry fees in parts of Indonesia. [1] The e-toll user only needs to attach a card to pay the toll in 4 seconds, faster than when paying in cash that takes 7 seconds. [1] The use of the e-toll also reduces operational costs because only costs are needed to collect, deposit and transfer cash to and from the bank. [1] Besides being the first step in modernizing money collection, the use of e-toll is also intended to reduce violations (moral hazard) because toll officers do not receive payments directly. [2]

E-toll uses an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system that allows transactions to be carried out remotely.

This card was issued by the collaboration of PT Jasa Marga Tbk, PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk, Bank Mandiri, and PT Marga Mandala Sakti. [2] In the initial stage (January 2009), this card can only be used in three toll lanes, namely Cawang-Tomang-Cengkareng, Cawang-Tanjung Priok-Pluit, and Cikupa-Merak. [3] The plan, this card will be applied to pay for fuel at the gas station and as a means of payment in the toll rest area. [4]
In June 2017 it was also socialized, all transactions at the toll gate use e-toll which will begin in October 2017, to reduce congestion during the queue and the next step in modernization (simplifying and accelerating) payments.
