Election Law: The 2017 General Election Law is a law that regulates general elections in Indonesia. Officially, this Law is known as Law Number 7 of 2017 (or Law 7/2017). This law was passed on July 20, 2017 after nine months of debate in the House of Representatives.

Electoral system
This law maintains the electoral system used in 2014, using an open proportional system. Voters can directly choose the candidates they want from the list of candidates proposed by the parties. The candidates are then sorted according to the number of votes, and the quota per party is determined through the Webster method after elimination from parties that do not meet the threshold.

For presidential candidates, the winning candidate is determined by a majority vote, with the second round of elections for the top two candidates if there is no presidential candidate who managed to get 50% + 1 in the first stage. In addition, winning candidates must obtain at least 20% of the votes in more than half of the provinces (i.e. more than 17)
