The history of the First Baptist Church of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim began in the second half of the nineteenth century, in Europe, more precisely in Spain. A teenage boy named José Landeiro, walking through the rooms of his uncle's parish in the city of Pontevedra, discovered in the middle of several objects a Bible. As he leafed through it, he was surprised by his uncle, who regarded the act as sacrilege and rebuked him greatly for it. This reprimand, however, aroused a great curiosity in knowing the book "forbidden".
Emigrated to Brazil, he went to Barra do Itapemirim. He bought from the sacristan of the church an old Bible that had been abandoned in that parish for many years. He paid at the time the sum of 20 reis. Joseph Landeiro read the Bible avidly every day, intensely. The Holy Spirit of God acted in his life and transformed him deeply.
He went on to gather friends at his residence to study the Word of God. He was discipled and baptized by pastor Francisco José da Silva on the Itapemirim river.
The story followed with the action of God until the morning of January 17, 1909 was organized the First Baptist Church in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, followed by the baptisms of Marianna Alves de Souza and Viana Prates Loyola.
Over the years, many changes have taken place, and with the growth of the church there has been a need for a new location and thus a house and land have been purchased on Lafayete Bernardes Street and the church has moved ahead to Av. Beira Rio, where it remains today.
