As a professional educator, teachers have a major role in providing education, teaching, providing guidance, assessing, directing, training and evaluating students both in early childhood education with formal pathways, basic education, to senior secondary education.

UKG can also be used to map the objective conditions of each teacher so that it can be used as important information for the government when it will take a policy related to the material and also a strategy in providing guidance needed by the teacher.

That way, the program to achieve the RPJMN target for 2015-2019 can be right on target by looking at the improvement of teacher competencies and education staff from subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge. The hope is that the quality of student learning outcomes can increase.

Graduation Standards for Teacher Competency Exams
The UKG (Teacher Competency Exam) was first held in 2014 ago, at that time the graduation standard for UKG was only around 4.7. This is very reasonable because this is the first time this system has been implemented.

However, as explained in the objectives of the UKG, of course, every year the graduation standard for UKG always increases.
In 2015, the UKG graduation standard increased to 5.5, in 2016 it became 6.0 and in 2017 it became 7.0. Whereas for 2018, the graduation standard for UKG will be 7.5 and in 2019 it will become 8.0.

Teacher Professional Education (PPG) is higher education after a graduate education program that prepares students to have jobs with special skills requirements in becoming a teacher. Teacher professional education must be pursued for 1-2 years after a candidate has graduated from an educational undergraduate program or non-educational undergraduate program. PPG (Teacher Professional Education Program) is a substitute program for deed IV which did not take effect from 2005

PPG (Teacher Professional Education Program) is expected that the competence and professionalism of teachers is truly more secure by undergoing a 2 semester or 1 year education period. PPG (Teacher Professional Education Program) applies to those who wish to become teachers both undergraduate education and non-education faculties.
