The app “The Language Researcher for Children” is intended for use at home or in day care centers and kindergartens. It offers uplifting, motivating exercises for children

• How do my lips, tongue, and jaw move when I speak?
• Which sound do I hear in syllables, words and sentences?
• Rhymes and stories that encourage discovery of sound

The first step towards a new sound is listening. By hearing, your child discovers the sound in words. It looks very closely at your mouth to see how your lips and tongue move when you speak. In the second step it tries to speak the word with the “new” sound. Through repeated “listening-speaking-listening-speaking-…” your child gradually learns the new sound.

“Der Sprachforscher” was developed by speech therapists and experts from research and teaching in collaboration with parents and children. The app is based on the concept of psycholinguistically oriented phonology therapy. Practicing with the app helps your child discover and consolidate the SCH sound. On the one hand, this happens by making people aware of the role that speech tools play in speaking. The child is guided through play to discover these complex processes in themselves and to experience them consciously (feeling and exploring). Listening closely is a key aspect of acquiring a sound. A high input frequency gives the child the opportunity to differentiate the SCH from other sounds and to recognize it as meaningful. This is a prerequisite for being able to produce the sound correctly (listening and exploring).

The diverse and varied exercises are embedded in a narrative framework: QuitschQuatsch, a cuddly alien from the distant planet Schupiter, has crashed on earth with his spaceship.
He's a researcher and he wants to know how people talk and he's already figured out a lot. This is the moment when the player enters the story.
QuitschQuatsch proudly presents its results and the child is invited to check them out and try them out on themselves (feel and explore). QuitschQuatsch also wants to repair his spaceship (listening and exploring).
By solving tasks related to the sound SCH, the child helps to plan the spaceship and to design robots (sound and syllable level). With the help of these robots, QuitschQuatsch will later be able to take a large number of SCH and S words or sentences home with them (word and sentence level).
Another central figure is Schorschi Schnaufi, the locomotive that represents the sound "SCH".

Hints:
- In addition to QuitschNatsch, your child is also a linguist!
- Take advantage of the story and the many characters that appear in it to talk about it with your child. What has it already discovered?
- Take the opportunity to print out the materials. These can be used in a variety of ways in everyday life. What you have learned becomes more present and can be memorized more easily.
