The male owner of a heavy and clear voice with his fine style of appearance on stage is a singer who has many fans in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. Born with the name Simon Domingus Pesolima on June 25, 1944, that is Broery Pesolima.

When it was first popular in Indonesia using the name Broery Marantika. Once also Broery Abdullah. The name change was because at that time, six years old Broery lived with her mother's uncle who had the fam (marga) Marantika. Broery even became his uncle's adopted son.

Marantika's name was only used by Broery from the beginning of her career to become a singer until the peak of popularity in the early 1970s. This change of last name from Pesolima to Marantika made Broery inevitably have to face the protests of her biological father, who considered the use of the name Marantika to make the family tree chaotic. Though Broery believes that the use of the name Marantika is only for commercial purposes. This difference of opinion had continued to reach the court in Ambon. But Broery finally relented to his father's willingness and again used the last name Pesolima in 1974.

Broery had used Abdullah's name from 1981 to 1985. When Broery married Anita Serawak, a Malaysian singer. Marriage is carried out in Islam and Broery uses the last name Abdullah. After divorcing Anita Serawak on December 31, 1985, in 1986 Broery again used the last name Pesolima. The name until the end of his life is still used.

Early career

While still living with his parents, Broery received musical influences from his father who had artistic knowledge. Because Broery's father is often a conductor of church choirs and enjoys listening to Western songs. This makes small Broeries more familiar with Western songs than Indonesian songs.

Then, while staying with his uncle, a pastor had brought Broery closer to church music. Broery is the smallest member of the church choir.

His true talent from Broery Pesolima became increasingly apparent when at the age of eight he moved to Jakarta. In Jakarta, Broery was raised.

During adolescence, Broery began trying to appear on stage with the Vilamita band. Together with this group, Broery had the opportunity to perform at various party venues. From the start of the wedding party to the young dance party. At that time, in the 1960s, in general almost every party of upper class youth always featured bands. Broery, who at that time was a PSLD I Jakarta high school student, began to appear roaming from one party to another.
