The church is the parish of the Russian Orthodox Church, which is part of the Moscow city diocese, the Northern Vicariate Church, the Znamensky deanery. In 2012, public public hearings were held at the Dmitrovsky District Administration, which resulted in a decision to allocate a site to the community of the church at ul. Sofia Kovalevskaya, v.14. At the beginning of 2013, construction began on a temporary temple (see virtual tour of the temple).

 The congregation of the parish of the Church of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow in Dmitrovsky was established in December 2007. The temple is included in the construction program of 200 temples in Moscow.

On April 28, 2013, the first Liturgy in the temporary Temple was served on the Palm Sunday holiday. November 27, 2013 construction began on the construction of the main temple.

By January 2015, the construction of the lower church in honor of the righteous John of Kronstadt was completed. In the spring of 2015, the arches of the upper church were mounted.

On August 29, 2015, the solemn consecration of the crosses and domes of the Temple took place. The rite of consecration was performed by the Vicar of the Northern District, Archbishop Mark Egorevsky, he was served by: Archpriest Sergei Kulikov, Provost of the Sign Church of the Sign, and Archpriest Dimitri Sinitsyn, rector of the church.

On September 7, 2015, the installation of the Main Dome and the Cross was carried out.

On April 14, 2016, the bells were consecrated for the belfry, which were shipped from the factory the day before. The bells began to be cast in January of this year at the Moscow Bell Foundry LITEX and after 3 months a ready-made belfry of 10 bells weighing from 4 kg and up to 450 kg arrived at the construction site of the temple.

On April 28, 2016, on Bright Thursday, the first service was held in the lower church in honor of righteous John of Kronstadt.

On May 2, 2016, on the Patronal Feast, on the day of commemoration of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow, the Divine Liturgy, headed by the Bishop of Bronnitsky Paramon, the head of the Northern Vicariate Church, took place. Vladyka highly appreciated the pace of the construction of our church and thanked our abbot Archpriest Dimitri Sinitsin for this.

There is a social service at the temple: large families, lonely, poor people and those left homeless receive help: food and things. The temple has a Sunday school, a children's military sports school. On weekends, the abbot reads the gospel. Teachers from the Academy of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra read Gospel courses.
