The following is a profile of Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, may God have mercy on him

Sheikh Abdul Basit was born in the village of Al-Maraazeh in the city of (Armant) in the governorate of (Qena) in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and he was born in 1345 AH.

The sheikh completed the memorization of the Qur’an at the hands of Sheikh al-Amir, and compiled the readings at the hands of Sheikh Muhammad Salim, whom the traveler was drawn to, in order to collect the readings of the Qur’an and take from its sciences and arts.

The sheikh visited the city of Cairo, and met with many of the great readers, and on that visit the opportunity had a chance to read between the hands of senior readers, and this occasion was the mediating contract between the sheikh and the radio station. The radio was the center of Sheikh Abdul Basit's launch towards the wide world.

The sheikh visited many Islamic and Western countries, and his visits had a great impact on Islam and Muslims, as he conveyed the message of the Qur’an the best message, and was a reason for guiding many of the confused. His visits also contributed to the consolidation of relations between many peoples of the world.

Sheikh Abdul Basit has received many decorations and certificates of appreciation from a number of Islamic countries. In recognition of his efforts in serving the Qur’an.

The sheikh passed away after a struggle with illness to the world of the hereafter in 1409 AH. The day of his death was a memorable day.
