Michael Joseph Jackson (born in Gary, Indiana, United States, August 29, 1958 - died in Los Angeles, California, United States, June 25, 2009 at the age of 50) is a singer and songwriter from the United States. He is known as the "King of Pop" and popularized the "Moonwalk" dance movement that has become his trademark.

MJ displayed his musical talent at a young age when he sang in front of his classmates at a Christmas recital at the age of five. In 1964, MJ and Marlon joined the Jackson Brothers is a band founded by his brothers: Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine.

In 1982, Epic released MJ's second album, Thriller. The appearance of this album is considered as the highlight of MJ's career. This second album survived in the top 10 Billboard 200 for 80 consecutive weeks. Seven songs from this album simultaneously made it to the top ten of Billboard Hot — 100, three of which were "Billie Jean," "Beat It," and "Wanna Be Startin 'Somethin'."
