Grades:
Grade refers to the cutting tool material and is normally the last part of the insert designation (e.g. “TP2501”). The grades covered by Seco Compare include general ISO turning, parting-off and grooving as well as ISO advanced materials such as CBN, PCD, ceramics and cermet.

Chipbreaker:
Chipbreaker refers to the visible design features, including cutting geometry, and is often designated with a letter and number combination separated by a “-“ after the ISO/ANSI designation (e.g. “CNMG120408-M3”). Seco Compare can recommend inserts with chipbreakers for ISO turning.
