This Crown is so called because Saint Bridget of Sweden, who died in Rome in 1373 and canonized in 1391, had the holy idea, was its propagator and obtained approval and indulgences from Pope Urban V.

It is recited in honor of the SS. Virgin and in memory of the 63 years, which is believed to be lived above the earth.

It consists of six tens of Hail Marys, and at the end of each decade a Pater and a Creed (of the apostles). Then we add:

1 Pater, in commemoration of the seven sorrows and seven joys of the same SS. Virgin

3 Hail Marys, which make up the number of sixty-three, corresponding to the years we want to remember.

Indulgences for those who recite the crown of St. Bridget:

This Crown acquired great credit, to have the Saint, at the touch of it, instantly healed a hopeless sick; the Supreme Pontiffs have enriched it with indulgences, which are the following, all confirmed by Pope Benedict XIV, with his Brief of 15 January 1743.
 

1. Seven years and seven quarantines each time you act; and also one hundred days for each Pater, Ave and Credo.

2. Plenary indulgence in article mortis, for those who have recited it at least once a week; and another plenary indulgence once a month, for those who recite it every day.

3. Forty days for those who, wearing it, pray at the sound of the bell, for a dying person. He will do an examination of conscience and will say Pater and Ave.

4. Twenty days for those who, having worn it, will do an examination of conscience and will say Pater and Ave.

5. One hundred days for those who, wearing it, will listen to the Holy Mass, or the word of God, or accompany the Holy Viaticum, or do some good work in honor of Our Lord Jesus Christ, of Mary Most Holy or of St. Brigid , reciting three Pater and Ave.
