The History of Joseph the Carpenter (6th-7th century) is one of the texts of the New Testament Apocrypha related to Jesus' childhood.

The text is structured as an explanation of him on the Mount of Olives on the life of St. Joseph, his father. Agreeing with the dogma of the perpetual virginity of Mary. Joseph is in charge of taking care of a virgin, Maria. She goes to live in his house and helps him to take care of its smaller children, Tiago and Judas, until reaching the age of 14 years, when she can marry.

The text proceeds with a paraphrase from the Gospel of James, stopping at the point of Jesus' birth. The text states that Joseph was miraculously blessed with a mental and physical youth, dying only at the age of 111 years. Their eldest sons, Justo and Simon, married and had children, as did their daughters, who then moved to the homes of their husbands.

Joseph's death takes considerable space from the text. He first makes an extended prayer, including in his last words a series of lamentations about the sins of the flesh. Approximately half of the work is covered by this "scene," in which the angel of death, just as the archangels Michael and Gabriel appear to him. At the end of the text, Jesus states that Mary remained a lifelong virgin by calling her "my mother, a virgin, spotless."
