Ghulam Ghafoor was born April 27 (May 10), 1903 in Tashkent in a peasant family. His father loved to read poems by Uzbek and Tajik poets knew Russian and he wrote poetry. In their home there were poets Mukimi Furqat, Asiri, Khislat and others.

Since the autumn of 1916 began to study at Ghafoor School. After his father died, and then the mother had a waif. Tried dozens of professions. During the Civil War was taken to an orphanage. Began working as a typesetter in the printing and learn pedagogical courses. Graduated from Tashkent Pedagogical Institute. In 1919-1927 he worked as a teacher, school principal, chairman of the Union of Education Workers, organized the children's orphanages and reception centers.

Since 1923, he began publishing his first poems and essays, and humorous stories. G.Gulyama first poem "Children of Felix", telling about orphans was published in the journal "Maorif Ukituvchi Islands" in 1923. According to the most G.Gulyama his work strongly influenced by the art of Vladimir Mayakovsky. Translated into the Uzbek language works Griboyedov, Lermontov, Mayakovsky, N. Hikmet, Rustaveli, Nizami, Dante P. Beaumarchais, William Shakespeare.

Ghulam Ghafoor died July 10, 1966. Buried in Tashkent Chigatayskom cemetery.
