Jalalain's tafsir book is generally considered a classical Sunni commentary book that is widely used as a reference, because it is considered easy to understand and consists of only one volume. The Book of Tafsir Jalalain (Tafsir al-Jalalayn, meaning: "the interpretation of two Jalals") is a book of interpretation written by two Imam Jalalain namely Imam Jalaluddin Muhammad bin Ahmad Mahalli (al-Mahalli) and Shaykh Jalaluddin 'Abdurrahman bin Abi Bakar Suyuthi (al- Suyuthi)

Jalalain's Tafseer was originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthipada in 1505. Jalaludin al-Mahalli started writing tafseer from the beginning of the Al-Kahfi chapter to the end of the An-Naas, after which he interpret surah Al-Fatihah to completion. Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from surah Al-Baqarah to surah Al-Isra '. Then he put the interpretation of the Al-Fatihah surah at the end of the previous sequence of interpretations of Al-Mahalli.
