The following is a brief biography of Rhoma Irama

Raden Haji Oma Irama which is popularly known as Rhoma Irama (born in Tasikmalaya, December 11, 1946; age 72 years) is a dangdut musician from Indonesia who is nicknamed "Raja Dangdut".
In the seventies, Rhoma had become a well-known singer and musician after falling up in establishing a music band, starting from the Gayhand band in 1963. Shortly afterwards, he moved into the Chandra Leka Orchestra, until finally forming his own band called Soneta which was October 13, 1973 began to flutter. Together with the Soneta group he led, Rhoma was recorded as having received 11 Golden Records from his tapes.

Based on cassette sales data, and the number of viewers of the films he starred in, Rhoma fans are no less than 15 million or 10% of Indonesia's population. This is the record until mid-1984. "There is no type of up-to-date art that has such a wide scope," wrote TEMPO magazine, June 30, 1984. Meanwhile, Rhoma herself said, "I am afraid of publication. Apparently, I have been dragged away."

Rhoma Irama counts as one of the most successful entertainers in gathering masses. Rhoma Irama not only performed domestically but she also performed in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Brunei with almost the same number of viewers when she performed in Indonesia. Often in Rhoma Irama's concert, the audience collapsed due to jostling. People refer to Rhoma's music as dangdut music, while he himself prefers that the music is referred to as Malay rhythm.

On October 13, 1973, Rhoma proclaimed the motto "Voice of Moslem" (aims to become Muslim agents) that combined elements of rock music in Malay music and improvised arrangements, poems, lyrics, costumes, and performances on stage. According to Achmad Albar, an Indonesian rock singer, "Rhoma pionir. Cleverly marrying Malay orchestra with rock". But if we observe it turns out it is not only rock that is combined by Rhoma Irama but also pop music, India and orchestras too. this is what causes each Rhoma song to have a different taste.
