What is ICD?
ICD stands for International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, or more briefly, International Classification of Diseases. ICD is a standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology, health management, and for clinical purposes. This includes analyzing the overall health situation of population groups and monitoring the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health problems.

The ICD is used to classify diseases and other health problems recorded in various types of documents, including death certificates and health records. In addition to making it possible to store and retrieve diagnostic information for clinical, epidemiological and quality purposes, these records also provide the basis for compiling national mortality statistics by the Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO). The ICD is also used for decisions on reimbursement and allocation of resources by these countries.
