“BPB mobile” is a free mobile app which enables any Arduino board (currently only Pro Mini) combined with a cheap Bluetooth module (HC-06) to perform home-automation and energy metering tasks. BPB requires a small Arduino board running “BPB Controller” code at the far end to work. This small code is open source and is developed in parallel with BPB mobile. One can buy fully assembled and flashed hardware. However, if you own an Arduino board and like DIY than just download “BPB mobile” from your app store, flash your Arduino and have fun with it.

Features:

BPB Project will stretch its list of features as time goes along. However, a short development forecast is given below.

1. Status synchronization between “BPB Mobile” and “BPB Controllers”

States of the switches, dimmers and timers will be automatically synchronized between mobile and relative controller whenever BPB mobile app jumps from one power board to another without the use of any central control unit.

2. Support for Arduino boards and possibility for DIY

The “BPB controller” code is written using Arduino IDE which makes it flexible and as it is fully open source, it opens up the doors for DIY. (Playing with live 220V/110V is dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. BPB project or HobbyLogs don’t take any kind of responsibility for any damage caused by the use of applications)

3. Energy Measurement

Energy measurement in one of the differentiator of this app. It requires a voltage current measurement module for the BPB controller and will be available after Stable Release 2.0.0.

4. Adaptive UI of BPB mobile

Adaptive UI is another neat feature which is must for Stable Release 3.0.0. Each switch can be configured (as ON/OFF Switch, Dimmer or Scheduler Switch) directly from BPB mobile UI. Moreover, BPB Mobile should be intelligent enough to know which Switches are used and show only these to give a more neater UI look.

5. Scheduler Capability:

This feature adds a capability to program your light to turn ON/OFF or dim it to a certain level based on time, date and week.
