The Senegal football team is the selection of Senegalese players, representing the country in international men's football competitions, under the auspices of the Senegalese Football Federation.
Founded in the early 1960s, the team has been a regular contender in the Africa Cup of Nations, where its best performance was won by Cameroon in the 2002 edition in Mali. The same year, Senegal took part in the World Cup for the first time and reached the quarter-finals after beating defending champion France in the opening match.
