Visually challenged can type fast in all languages, Emojis and everything.
When you run K4 Keyboard for the first time, you will be automatically taken to the help menu. All the information needed to run this software is in that. In this keyboard, always a swipe of about half an inch within key 1 in the upwards direction takes you to the help menu. Remember. 1, up for help.
K4 Keyboard has only 4 keys, arranged as a 2 x 2 grid in the lower half of the touch screen. Each key is square of side with more than an inch. So error in touching the required key is almost nil. Each digit, letter, normally used symbols and commands are given specific swipes. These swipes trace one or more edges of a square.
Full words, phrases, or even full sentences, can be got in just one swipe ! And one can customize these.
A word in the dictionary can be got by swipes, or by taps on keys, or by a combination of both. Note that any key has about half a dozen letters. Tap method works even with that. The hybrid method is to reduce the options available, so that the overall input time will be reduced.
A new method of inserting a gap in the middle of a word is again to speed up typing. A few letters in the end reduces the options considerably.
About 200 frequently used words can be kept with their abbreviations. These will speed up typing to some extent. But one cannot remember too many abbreviations.
Another method called Dynamic Abbreviation selects phrases, when only first one or few letters from some of the words of the phrases are given. This again helps in speeding up of the input of a large number of phrases, idioms, proverbs, or any user defined list of strings. One should know only what phrases are required, and not any fixed abbreviation. The abbreviation is not fixed. It can be different at different times. This is the special feature of Dynamic abbreviation.
The emojis, musical and higher mathematical symbols can be got easily by using their names with dynamic abbreviation. This is a powerful way of inputting them.
An extended form of swipe is introduced here. With one swipe, one can input one full word. When used with dynamic abbreviation, one swipe can give even a full sentence, like a proverb.
Simple and scientific calculators are built in. Unit conversion tool is also included.
One can use one swipe, to change a number in digits to a number in words. Also whether lakhs and crores or millions and billions has to be used can be specified. Other facilities include changing to superscript or subscript. Just one swipe is enough to do these thing, which are not easy even for normal users.
Any of the more than 65,000 Unicode characters can be got directly, by giving its code point number.
Spell check and search and replace will be available for all the languages.
One can edit a text, and format it. Size, boldness, colour etc. can be set. One can find the value for these properties for a text.
Any number of languages can be downloaded. One can easily switch from one language to another. A person conversant in one language should be able to use this software in that language without knowing English.
Different languages may need different things to make things easier. One solution may not fit all. There are a number of things which the user can customize.
This is an enabling technology. Also it helps to input fast.
Braille is for passive surface. K4 Keyboard is for active surface.
Fixed some minor bugs.
Allows access to the vibrator.
Allows an application to write to external storage.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
