The translation of Al-Lu'lu 'Wal Marjan outlines 54 chapters such as the explanation of prayer, adab, buying and selling, fasting, zakat, and janaiz.

And one of the important points of the aqeedah of Ahlus sunnah wal jama'ah is the belief that faith is increasing and decreasing (See Fathu Rabbbil Bariyah, p. 102). This has been shown by the arguments of the Book and the Sunnah. One of the arguments of the Book is the word Allah ta'ala (which means), "In order to increase their faith in their existing faith." (Surah Al Fath [48]: 4).

The theorem of the Sunnah among them is the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam about the figure of women, "I do not see a people lacking in reason and religion and more quickly lost their minds in a strong man than you (women). "(Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim).

So the verse above shows the determination that faith can increase, while in the hadith there is a determination about the reduction of religion. So that each of these arguments shows an increase in faith. And automatically it also contains a determination that faith can be reduced, and vice versa. Because increase and subtraction are two things that cannot be separated. There is no sense in the existence of one of them without being accompanied by others.

Thus in the view of Ahlus Sunnah the definition of faith has 5 characters: belief, speech, charity, can increase, and can be reduced. Or it can be summarized into 3: beliefs, sayings, and charity. Because charity is part of faith, faith can automatically increase and decrease. Or you can summarize even a little more into 2: sayings and charities, because beliefs are included in charities, namely charity. Wallahu A'lam. Deviation in defining faith

The belief that faith can increase and decrease is that the faith has been patented, can not be tampered with or bargained again. Nevertheless, there are also people who deviate from this straight understanding. Shaykh Ibn aim Uthaimin Rahimahullah explained that these deviant people were divided into two groups, namely: Murji'ah and Wai'diyah.

Murji'ah really said that faith was enough with confession in the heart, and that heart acknowledgment according to them was not multilevel. So according to them the person who likes to meditate (wicked) with people who are pious and obedient is the same in matters of faith. According to the Murji'ah people charity is not part of faith. So that enough faith with capital of heart recognition and verbal utterances only. The consequences of their opinions are the perpetrators of major sins, including those whose faith is perfect. Even though he committed any immorality and left any obedience. Their schools are the opposite of the Khawarij schools. (see Syarh Lum’atul I’tiqad, pp. 161-163, Syarh ‘Aqidah Wasithiyah, p. 162).
