The book of Al-Hikam is the main work of Ibn 'Atha'illah, which is very popular, which contains words of wisdom which are of very high value, containing understanding of monotheism, morals, and ma'rifatullah, Sheikh Ibn' Atha'illah as-Sakandari ( 1309 AD) lived in Egypt during the reign of the Mameluk Dynasty. He was born in the city of Alexandria (Alexandria), then moved to Cairo. In this city he spent his life teaching Imam Maliki School of Jurisprudence in various intellectual institutions, including the Al-Azhar Mosque. At the same time he was also widely known in the field of Sufism as a third "master" (sheikh) in the Syadziliyah Sufi order.
Ibn ‘Athaillah is a productive ulama. No fewer than 20 works have ever been produced. Includes the fields of Sufism, tafsir, aqeedah, hadith, nahwu, and ushul fiqh. From some of his works the most famous is the book of al-Hikam.
