Introducing the Mind Diet for Healthy Brain app! The MIND DIET main objectives is to help improve brain function and prevent dementia. It is based on the Mediterranean diet and the DASH diet – two healthy eating plans in their own right.

The main differences of between Mediterranean and DASH diet with MIND diet is that, both diets promotes eating a lot of fruit. However, the MIND diet encourages to eat more berries but does not emphasize consuming fruit in general. The Mind diet focuses specifically on foods that can help your brain and reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Over decades for research that identified 10 key foods associated with better brain function and a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Each of these foods is rich in compounds that have been shown to protect and nourish the brain.

Based on case study, people who followed the MIND diet the closest had a 53% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease than people who followed it the least. Another study also found that there is a significant slower decline in brain function compared to people who followed the diet the least. However, there’s not much research investigating its effects since the study about the MIND diet only recently was published in 2015.

Although both studies shows positive result, but it is still in the early stage. It can’t say for sure that the MIND diet caused the reduction of risk of Alzheimer’s disease or the slower brain decline. However, researchers recently received approval to start a controlled study on the effects of the MIND diet. Therefore, this is a huge step forward determining if the MIND diet directly benefits brain functions.
