The use or misuse of information is central to the conflict in the Middle East. There has been a growing need for supporters of, in particular, the Palestinian cause, to master the art of information gathering, analysis, and dissemination. This requires well organized, focused and targeted operations. Such initiatives are virtually non-existent in the West today.
Times of Middle East (TOME) was established to fill this gap.

Times of Middle East has been created as a web portal for the disseminating information and knowledge from our writers to our readers. It is not about us but about you. It developed as an idea from a newsletter we have been producing and been sending out the past several years. The special essence of that newsletter was to provide our readers with different viewpoints on the same issue without us the ‘moderator’ imposing our own viewpoint.

Through globalization and technological advancements we are being exposed to a glut of information– yet on another hand, there seems to be the paucity of understanding of many issues. The information flow we are being exposed to is not as innocuous as it seems, but rather we the readers are unknowingly often exposed to specific interests. In particular, most information points do not even attempt to engage the ‘other’, through understanding its narrative or even countering its own understanding. The phrase ‘my road or the highway’ comes to mind.

Our aim is to provide a platform to promote dialogue and understanding which will present all shades of opinion and not to see any as being sacrilegious to questions. We encourage our writers to be respectfully irreverent and our readers to be tolerant. They need not agree with all thoughts expressed but they should provide broad hospitality to them.

We are privileged to be part of this beautiful world and to be enjoying its joys and glories. However, in the last decade, in which our daughters have been born, the world has seen much turbulence. For my older daughter, it is normal to see – the car boot being checked for a bomb. This should not be normal. We created this website so that we could work for our two daughters and those of others, to grow up in a more peaceful harmonious environment. To us, this can only come through understanding and empathy of the other.
