Carrotopia Demo - 2D Platformer Adventure on Windows Pc

Follow Chester on his quest to discover the lost lands of Carrotopia! In this demo, explore through 2 large levels and experience the early stages of the development of Carrotopia.

A Basic Backstory

Chester, a young adventurous guinea pig, running away from his owners, discovers a long lost secret. He stumbled upon a lost relic, containing clues to find a lost temple known as Carrotopia. It is said that a near infinite supply of golden carrots resides within this temple; golden carrots said to contain the ultimate powers of the universe. According to this relic, the one who claims these carrots would have an unstoppable amount of power, in other words, they’d be invincible!
Of course, Chester immediately sets out on his quest to find this mysterious Carrotopia. However, little does Chester know, another animal also seeks to claim the prize, the evil Douglas, a duck seeking to take over the world, and create a mighty kingdom.
Will Chester find the temple before Douglas? Is the world truly safe?



Controls

Gamepad and keyboards are customisable in this demo. In the PC and Mobile versions of Carrotopia’s demo, vibrations and touchscreen controls can be toggled. However, the online version does not support vibrations or touchscreen controls.
On PC and online it is best to play with a gamepad, such as an Xbox 360 controller. However, on mobile, touch screen controls are fully supported. The left analogue stick is used to control the direction of movement or climb ladders. The right analogue stick is used as buttons. Hold up to jump. Tap left or right to dash, or tap diagonally up to dash-jump. Gamepads are also supported on mobile platforms.



How to play

You can defeat some enemies by jumping on them, some by dashing into them, and some can be defeated both ways. Spikes though are indestructible so make sure you don’t run or jump into them!
Simply get to the end of each level to complete them. There are also 5 golden carrots hidden within each level that you can collect, which are not lost if you die.
Additionally, you can attempt to collect all of the regular carrots in each level, though this is very difficult, and they are lost when you die! Your record is shown on the home screen.



Tips and tricks

• Hold down the jump button to jump higher
• You can’t dash into penguins if they are sliding towards you, or you will take damage
• Icicles will only fall if you’re near them
• Penguins will only slide if they are facing you and you are near to them
• Getting to checkpoints will fully replenish your health
• Falling into water is not a good idea!
• Hold the jump button while jumping on an enemy to bounce after you hit them
• You can defeat the boss easier by sticking to one side of the field

Due to continuing development of the project, not all gameplay shown within this demo is final, and is not a true representation of what the final project will look/play like once it is released.
