The Day of the Dead festival has great significance worldwide, but in Mexico it reaches its maximum expression, to the point of being one of the most important holidays on the calendar. They even have one day for each type of deceased! November 1 is dedicated to the soul of children, while the next day is dedicated to that of adults.

Death in Mexico, as celebrated as taboo in other countries, here tastes like bread of the dead, smell of cempasuchil and the image of a skull known as Catrina. Everything is party and joy despite being a matter in appearance so painful, sad and even fearful.

According to tradition, during these days the dead return from the aftermath, attracted by the smell and the yellow color of the typical flowers, cempasúchil, and by the light of the candles that illuminate their path. In the cemeteries, family and friends make offerings with the deceased's favorite food and drink, photographs of his life and, in the case of children, toys. They even hire musical groups to interpret the favorite songs of the dead. These are days when Mariachis feel in every corner ...

Throughout Mexico the cemeteries are open day and night, 24 hours a day, and the streets are full of people disguised with the characteristic colors of this party, skull or deceased. The faces are painted to celebrate the arrival of the soul of their relatives, who these days can return to the underworld.

Death is also represented in Mexican gastronomy, with typical products that represent it in different ways, such as sweet skulls or dead bread, which simulates skeletons.

And the Day of the Dead is very much alive in the culture of Mexicans.

Typical of the day of the dead in Mexico:

- skull

- the sugar skull

- the catrinas

- the cemetery

- the skeleton

- the sweets

- cempasúchil flowers

- the lighting

- The butterfly

- the mask

- the offerings

- the bread of the dead

- confetti

- Tomb
