... because most people have so far had little to do with the concept of the smart city. This app provides a remedy and supports awareness of how innovations can make life in the city easier and more beautiful:
Users of the app can discover innovative solutions for aspects such as digitisation, climate protection or demographic change and socially acceptable living in selected locations.
Short and concise intros to each location are intended to create an incentive to learn more about Smart City Berlin on site. Selected locations are also provided with an audio contribution and offer further exciting details to discover during an on-site visit. Whether a riddle or sharing selfies and feedback: Join in and discover how smart Berlin is.
No previous knowledge of Smart City is required. Nevertheless, those interested in the subject will also find a few new details. How does Berlin work as a city worth living in? How do the residents of Berlin live, work and move around? The Discover Smart City Berlin app not only lists facts, it also presents smart places that provide exemplary (innovative) solutions to the challenges of our time.
The descriptions were written by experts in close cooperation with the responsible project managers of the individual smart locations and prepared in a reader-friendly way. Individual contributions from project managers reflect what is smart at the selected location without clearly defining the term smart.
The app presents both the well-known points of interest for Smart City Berlin, such as the EUREF campus, and lesser-known locations with no less innovative solutions of a Smart City.
At present, around 80 selected destinations are represented in the app for users. The list represents a snapshot, which will be supplemented in the future by further smart locations. Users can also use the feedback function to suggest their own intelligent Berlin locations.
