Lampung is the southernmost province on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, with the capital city of Bandar Lampung. The province has two cities, namely Bandar Lampung City and Metro City and 13 districts.
Lampung Province was born on March 18, 1964 with the enactment of Government Regulation Number 3/1964 which later became Law Number 14 of 1964. Before that Lampung Province was a residence incorporated with the Province of South Sumatra.

Even though Lampung Province before March 18, 1964 was administratively still part of South Sumatra Province, but this area long before independent Indonesia had indeed shown enormous potential and distinctive color patterns of culture that could add to the treasure of cultural customs in the archipelago. Therefore, in the VOC era the Lampung region was inseparable from the target of Dutch colonialism.

Lampung was once the territory of the Tarumanagara Kingdom and the Kingdom of Sunda until the 16th century. Before finally the Sultanate of Banten destroyed Pajajaran, the capital of the Kingdom of Sunda. The Sultan of Banten, Hasanuddin, then took power over Lampung.
