The Via Industrialis is a guide to the exciting places of industrial and traffic history in Cologne. The spectrum ranges from important evidence from the early industrial era, such as the baroque buildings from the silk weaving on the Mülheimer Freiheit, up to high-profile large-scale industrial plants from the era of high industrialization, such as the gas engine factory Deutz - the world's first engine factory, in Nicolaus August Otto the four-stroke engine invented. In addition, the route leads to important port and traffic structures that were developed or developed in close connection with industrialization: ports, railway stations, railway depots and bridges.
The Via Industrialis is particularly suitable with six routes - in whole or in sections - as bicycle tours. But it can also be visited by public transport, on foot or by car. Information boards will be used in important places for explanations.
Further information can be found on the website:
www.rheinische-industriekultur.com available.

Since industrial history can not be understood and explained from a limited local and regional point of view, Via Industrialis will be further developed in cooperation with similar activities in Düsseldorf, Leverkusen and other locations along the Rhine.
