The Book of Enoch (Book of Enoch) Ancient Jewish religious work attributed to Enoch

Book of Enoch is an intertestamental book, which is part of the Bible canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, but is not recognized as canonical by the other Christian Churches.

The Book of Enoch is an ancient Jewish religious work, attributed by tradition to Noah's great-grandfather Enoch, although modern scholars estimate the first sections (mainly in the Watchers Book) from 300 BC, and the last part (Book of Parables). probably at the end of the first century BC.

The book of Enoch is an apocryphal text that is mentioned by some letters of the New Testament (Jude, Hebrews and 2nd Peter). Until the elaboration of the Vulgate around the year 400, the early followers of Christ openly mentioned it in their texts and accepted it as real. After the Vulgate he fell into oblivion. However, the book is very interesting and looks real. The book of Enoch was preserved only in one copy, in its entirety, in Ethiopian, and for this reason it is also called the Ethiopian Enoch.

After having lived in communion with God, Enoch was raptured to heaven, and the scriptures say, "Enoch walked always in fellowship with God and one day disappeared, because God took him away" (Genesis 5:24).

Book of Enoch Assumes the continuity of the discourse of the prophets and the foreknowledge of the Christian message, emphasizing the coming of the Son of Man. It is an expression of apocalyptic literature as hope for the humble.

The first sections of the book were composed in the third century BC. The authors depended in part on the Pentateuch and expanded the sections on Genesis, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. For example, 1 Enoch 1: 9 (the quotation in Jude 1: 14-15) is originally a Midrash of Deuteronomy 33: 2.

The Book of Enoch (abbreviated 1 Enoch) is an intertestamental book, which is part of the Coptic Church Bible canon, but is not accepted as canonical by other Christian churches. The only intact versions of this book that are preserved are in ge'ez, the liturgical language of the Ethiopian Church, but several parts are known in Greek, Syrian, Armenian, Arabic, and Latin and a Coptic fragment. In addition, several fragments were found in Aramaic and one in Hebrew (4T317) in Qumran. Tradition attributed its authorship to Enoch (also transcribed as Enoch or Enoch), Noah's great-grandfather.

The book was published in the first century of our era and consists of several parts written in the third century BC. C. and I d.C.

The book of Enoch consists of:

- Watchers Book
- Book of Parables
- Astronomical Book
- Book of Dreams
- The Epistle of Enoch

Early Christians appreciated the Book of Enoch, as can be seen in the canonical epistles of Jude (6 and 14-16) and 2 Peter (2: 4), as well as the non-canonical of Barnabas and the writings of Justin Martyr. 100-165), Athenagoras (170); Tatian (110-172); Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyon (115-185); Clement of Alexandria (150-220); Tertullian (160-230); Lactantius (260-325) and also those of Methodius of Filippus, Minucius Felix, Commodian, and Priscillian (m.

The book of Enoch is an apocalyptic book belonging to the Jewish apocalyptic

Undoubtedly, the Book of Enoch was widely known and appreciated in the Jewish world and later inherited by the early Christians, who were largely responsible for preserving it in other languages. The Book of Enoch is classified as pseudo-epigraphic because its content is attributed to this legendary descendant of Adam, although the content and problems they narrate are clearly of later origin.
