How to make a radio controlled airplane (often called a RC airplane or RC airplane ) is a small aircraft that is controlled remotely by a person on the spot using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter communicates with a receiver inside the ship, which sends signals to servomechanisms (servos, motors) that move the control surfaces depending on the position of the joysticks on the transmitter. Control surfaces, in turn, affect the orientation of the plane.
Flying RC planes are a fun way to spend a leisurely day with friends and family. Even more fun than flying a remote-controlled plane. Creating your own RC airplane is a fairly simple project that requires only a few tools, some time and some creativity. It is also a great project to involve the whole family as each participant can contribute to its creation.
Choose the type of remote controlled aircraft you would like to build. You can create all kinds of RC airplane models, from fighter jets to miniature Bush airplane models. It all depends on what you are fond of and what level of skill you are comfortable building. A RC airplane kit usually costs about $ 200. Check with your local hobby store for more price details.
Clear the workspace for your aircraft. In the same place where you build your aircraft, there should be enough space to store the new aircraft. Make sure the area you are using is dry and warm to avoid warping the aircraft wood. A great place to build your aircraft will be your garage. Clean it up and organize your tool kit to help you find the tools you need to build your plane.
Remove the aircraft parts from the kit and organize them. Take a few plastic containers, group them by type and store in containers so as not to lose.
Take sandpaper and sand all parts of the aircraft body. Most RC planes are made of wood, and you have to make sure that all the parts are smooth, without roughness and notches in the wood. This can cause your plane to not fly properly, so it's important to make sure the parts are smooth.
Assemble the remote control and place the sensor in the aircraft. Once you've assembled the engine and all the electronics, finish assembling the airframe.
