Muhammad (sav) aytgan soʻzlari, qilgan ishlari, iqrorlari toʻgʻrisidagi rivoyat. Islom dinida Qurʼ-ondan keyin 2-manba hisoblanadi. H. 2 qismdan iborat boʻladi: matn va isnod. H. 2 turga - H.i qudsiy (maʼnosi Alloh taoloniki, aytilishi rasululloh tomonidan boʻlgan H. lar) va H.i nabaviyga boʻlinadi. H. lar eʼti-borga olinishi jihatidan 3 qismga boʻlinadi: 1) sahih (ishonchli); 2) hasan (yaxshi); 3) zaif.

Qurʼonda barcha huquqiy va axloqiy masalalar umumiy tarzda bayon etilgan. Ularga aniqlik kiritish va izohlash uchun Muhammad (sav) oʻz H. larini aytardi. Bu H.larni paygʻambarlarning safdoshlari yodda saqlashga harakat qilardi. Paygʻambar vafotidan soʻng H. larni naql qilish odat tusiga kirdi. Lekin bu toʻplamlar muayyan tartibga solinmagan, boblarga ajratilmagan boʻlib, ularda paygʻambar H. lari bilan sahobalar va tobeʼinlarning fatvolari chalkashtirib yuborilgan edi.

Hijriy 3-asrda H. taʼlif etish sohasida "musnad", "sahih", "sunan" deb atalmish turli yoʻnalishlar vujudga keldi. "Musnad" yo'nalishida tas-nif etilgan toʻplamlarda turli mavzudagi H. lar bir joyda keltirilib, ular H. rivoyat qiluvchi sahobalarning islom dinini qabul qilgan vaqtiga koʻra yoki alifbo tartilganl joy. Abu Hanifa, Ahmad ibn Hanbalgʻging H. kitoblari shu yoʻnalishga mansub. "Sahih" yoʻnalishiga tugʻri, ishonarli H. lar kiritilgan. Bu yoʻnalishga Imom Buxoriy asos solgan. "Sunan" yoʻnalishidagi toʻplamga esa, toʻgʻri, ishonarli H. lar bilan bir qatorda "zaif" H. lar ham kiritilgan. Abu Dovud, Abu Iso atTermiziy, Nasoiy, Ibn Moja toʻplamlari shu yoʻnalishta mansubdir.

Movarounnahrda birinchi boʻlib Imom Abdulloh ibn Muborak al-Marvaziy H. toʻplamini taʼlif etgan. Bundan tashqari Ahmad ibn Hanbal al-Marvaziy, Ishoq ibn Rohavayh alMarvaziy, Haysam ibn Kulayb ashShoshiy, Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Barakotiy, Ibrohim ibn Maʼqul anNasafiy va boshqalar H. to Keyinchalik, milliy-siyosiy ixti-loflar natijasida, paygʻambar nomidan yolgʻon H.lar toʻqish, fiqh va kalom ilmi sohasidagi ziddiyatlar, amir va hokimlarga xushomadgoʻylik oqibatida klima
