Built in 1980 to be a parish of the Sagrada Família in Goiânia, over the years it had an influx of its faithful and an increasing increase in the number of graces obtained. It was 36 years of history as a parish before receiving the title of Sanctuary.

The Solemn Mass for the Elevation of the Holy Family Shrine, on December 30, 2016, and also to the Shrine of Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Eucharist, was accompanied by thousands of faithful and celebrated by Archbishop of Goiânia, Dom Washington Cruz, who highlighted the importance of the title for Catholics - “Sanctuaries are more than special places, where the grace of God can be more abundantly received”, he said.

This is recognized by the more than 80 thousand faithful who visit the Sanctuary every week. With an extensive program, the Sagrada Familia Sanctuary is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, always on watch and ready to serve its pilgrims. All Masses are broadcast live on the official Facebook page, with around 446 thousand followers.

Father Rodrigo de Castro, Rector of the Sanctuary, explains - “The Sanctuary is the sacred place that attracts crowds of faithful who nurture a specific devotion for the patron, in our case the Sagrada Família, and that happens here. The Sanctuary is not a parish, it has no territorial limit or parishioners, because the volume of people who pass by it to pray, ask and thank for the graces achieved is very large, and we live with it weekly ”, he commented.
