ECUADOR POPULAR RADIOPHONIC SCHOOLS -ERPE- is a social and intercultural organization that builds conditions for a decent life with people, communities and neighborhoods in poverty in the province of Chimborazo implementing economic, business, associative, communicative and development processes of capacities, all this, inspired by the liberating principles and values ​​of our founder Mons. Leonidas Proaño.

The ERPE 91.7 FM radio is located in the province of Chimborazo in the Riobamba Canton. It is part of the ERPE Foundation (Popular Radiophonic Schools of Ecuador) private, autonomous and non-profit organization; founded in 1962 from the guidance and leadership of Monsignor Leonidas Proaño focused on the educational service, support for social development, committed to the popular rural sectors and especially with the indigenous population. Radio contributes to the development of the activities undertaken by the Foundation, which is how it has been possible to develop literacy projects for more than 20,000 indigenous people and peasants throughout 13 provinces. In the same way, from the Radio they have been able to execute a system of teleeducation (formal distance education) being able to train approximately 16,000 indigenous people and farmers. They have 18 hours a day of programming in which they disseminate informative, educational, evangelization, cultural, musical programs both in Kichwa and in Spanish.

Radio ERPE is the first community media to promote the dissemination of the Kichwa language, linked to political organizations of the indigenous movement, whom it supports from the radio field promoting and making visible social demands, as well as supporting the process of training community delegates on issues of communication, the defense of the territories against extractive projects. This communicational project is built from the people, their culture and their territory in order to make their voices visible and amplified. For all its work, Radio has great recognition both in the province of Chimborazo and in Ecuador.

The ERPE Foundation Radio at the service of the Ecuadorian people, broadcasts intercultural programs in which communication is encouraged, contributes to the culture and education of the public in the community, also providing the relevant news of the day.
