Welcome to Hieroglyphs AI, the app designed to help you translate ancient Egyptian inscriptions and texts of the Classical period. Our app is based on cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies that use Deep Learning neural networks to recognize hieroglyphs accurately.

Whether you're a tourist visiting Egypt or a museum-goer, a learner of the ancient Egyptian language, or an expert in reading ancient Egyptian texts, Hieroglyphs AI can be a powerful tool in your hands.

Learning the ancient Egyptian language can be a daunting task, mainly because of the vast number of signs that must be memorized. Even professional Egyptologists may forget the meaning of a hieroglyphic character from time to time, leading to long searches in lists based on Alan Gardiner's classification. For beginners, this search can be time-consuming, and for casual learners, it can be overwhelming. But with Hieroglyphs AI, you can identify hieroglyphic characters in books, on steles, or on temple walls quickly.

Here's how the app works:

• The app shows the code in Gardiner's list of Egyptian hieroglyphs and any phonetic meanings associated with the character.
• You can search for recognized hieroglyphs in the built-in Ancient Egyptian dictionary (Mark Vygus 2018).
• Knowing the code or phonetic meaning of a hieroglyphic sign, you can find additional information in Gardiner's list of Egyptian hieroglyphs, search for words with the character in electronic dictionaries and word lists, and even search the Internet for phonetic meanings.
• The app features a zoom function and a viewfinder to ensure accurate recognition of hieroglyphic signs.

To use the app, you can either utilize your smartphone's camera or upload images from your gallery. Here's how it works:

Camera Usage: Simply position the viewfinder over the hieroglyph you want to recognize. Adjust the zoom if needed or adjust the distance between your phone and the object to ensure the hieroglyph fits within the viewfinder's frame. Then, tap the camera button located at the bottom of the screen.

Gallery Upload: Alternatively, you can select an image from your gallery by accessing the gallery menu. Choose the desired image containing the hieroglyph you want to recognize.

In both cases, once the image is processed, you will see a panel displaying the main recognition results. This includes the selected portion of the image with the hieroglyphic sign, the character identified by the program in a standard font, the code of the hieroglyph according to Gardiner's list of Egyptian hieroglyphs, and the probability of the sign being recognized. If the hieroglyphic sign has phonetic values associated with it, you can view them by clicking the downward arrow.

Other features of the app include the ability to work without an Internet connection, Dark theme support, and no registration or login required. Your data stays on your device and won't be sent anywhere, ensuring your privacy.
