There is a story behind every facade. Our mission: to put every building in the Netherlands on the map. The BOQUE app takes you on a journey of discovery through architecture in the Netherlands and Belgium. Part of the architect's story. Participate in the knowledge behind the building. Together we literally put the built environment on the map.

Why this app?
Walking through the city, you can see which designer clothes people wear, but do you know who designed the Evoluon? Who is the architect of your home or town hall? And… what sustainability looks like? You can find these stories in the app: a source of information, inspiration and Dutch design. Whether you are physically present on location or watching online from your backyard: BOQUE takes you on a journey. And the good thing is: there are already more than 1000 buildings on the map and we have only just started. Are you traveling?

Who is this app for?
This app is for architects, contractors, real estate entrepreneurs and anyone who is curious about all the beauty that the Netherlands has to offer in the field of architecture. Get to know the story behind a building and at the same time discover how visible and invisible details enhance building designs.

The story behind each building is told by the architect, but don't forget the builder and suppliers. They bring every building to life with their methods and materials. All these parties work together on special and sometimes complex structures.

What can you do with this app?
The app has a number of functionalities such as the map function, search function and project page.

1. Map function: experience and discover
Mapping the built environment: zoom in on your place of choice. Are you nearby? Go watch live; that says so much more than a photo.

2. Search function: explore your city or search by type of building
Extensive search options by city, zip code, architect, supplier, building type and special features. Are you curious about the work of a specific architectural firm? Do you want to see libraries or just look around in Zwolle? Are you looking for circular buildings or aluminum facade systems? Search!

3. Project page: building details
Get inspired by the story behind the design. Who designed the building and who contributed to it? Discover the materials that have been processed. The project pages tell the whole story of all parties who have contributed to the building.
Who owns this app?
Gather a chief editor and marketing strategist with a passion for architecture, construction and materialization together; the rest is history. Eight years later, a collaboration for one of the first sustainability projects resulted in the launch of the BOQUE App.

In the meantime, Katja van Roosmalen and Christel Verbiesen got to know each other, as people and as lovers of architecture. We were inspired by powerful architecture, the diversity of the urban landscape and the way in which architects and suppliers interpret complex issues.

For years we worked behind the scenes on this special app in which building design and applied materials come together. And now our dream has come true: with architects, builders and suppliers, we literally put Dutch architecture on the map.

How does a building get into the app?
BOQUE members such as architects, builders and suppliers contribute their favorite buildings via an online platform on which the app runs. Do you know a beautiful building that should not be missing?
