Tafsir Surat Al-Kautsar

A. The Shortest Letter in the Qur'an

This Al-Kautsar letter by Al-Baihaqi who narrated from Ibn Syubrumah is the shortest letter, because it only consists of 3 verses. And that in the Koran there is no letter that is shorter than this letter.

Actually there are other surahs with only three verses, for example Al-Ashr 3 verses and An-Nashr also 3 verses. But Ibn Assyria mentioned that the number of words of Al-Kauthar was less, as well as the number of letters

So even though the three Surah Al-Ashr, Al-Kautsar and An-Narhr both consist of only 3 verses, but the short is Al-Kautsar's letter, if calculated also from the number of words and the number of letters.

B. Principal Content of the Letter Content:

Some main thoughts related to the content of this letter include that Allah SWT confirms that:

1. The Amount of God's Gift

The statement has been the many gifts of Allah SWT to the Prophet Muhammad. The many gifts of Allah SWT are stated by lafadz al-Kautsar which has many meanings according to the mufassir, so that it can be called easily with: a lot of enjoyment.

2. Commands to Pray and Slaughter Animals.

The essence of the command in this letter is in the second verse, that is when Allah SWT ordered the Messenger of Allāh untuk to pray and slaughter animals.

After previously Allah SWT mentioned that He had given so many gifts.

3. Culture of Pride to Have a Boy

Straighten the culture of pride in having a son. In the last part of verse 3, Allah SWT flicked those who had made fun of the Prophet (PBUH) as a broken person.

Arabic culture which boasts the poetry of the male lane does exist and is an instinct or fithrah of every human being, even it also occurs in other nations besides the Arabs.
