Surat al-Mursalat (Arabic: سورة المرسلات‎, “The Emissaries”, “Winds Sent Forth”) is the 77th chapter (surah) of the Quran with 50 verses.

Hadith / Hadees:
Hadis (حديث) is literally “speech”; recorded saying, tradition, or orthopraxy of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) validated by isnad; with sira these comprise the sunnah and reveal shariah and tafsir (tafseer) is the Arabic word for exegesis of the Qur'an. The first and foremost exegesis of the Quran is found in hadith of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), thus making it important to consider the hadeeth related to a particular surah when studying it.

Abdullah ibn Masud was a sahabi or companion of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and an early convert to Islam, narrates that this surah was revealed while he was in a cave at Mina, Saudi Arabia with Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and records an incident of a snake leaping on them while both remained safe.
Ibn ‘Abbas narrated this Surat was the last thing that Umm Al-Fadl (his mother) heard from Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He recited it in the Maghrib prayer. Both Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim recorded this report in the Two Sahihs by way of Malik.
Sahabah reported that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite surahs An-Naba and al-Mursalat in one rak'ah, and surahs Ad-Dukhan (44) At-Takwir (81) in one rak'ah.

The Surah takes its name from the word wal-mursalat in the first verse.

Period of Revelation:
Its subject matter bears full evidence that it was revealed in the earliest period at Makkah. If this Surah is read together with the two Surahs preceding it, namely Al-Qiyamah and Ad-Dahr (Surah Insan), and the two Surahs following it, namely An-Naba and An-Naziat, it becomes obvious that all these Surahs are the Revelations of the same period, and they deal with one and the same theme, which has been impressed on the people of Makkah in different ways.

Conclusion:
In the end, the deniers of the Hereafter and those who turn away from God-worship, have been warned as if to say: "Enjoy your short-lived worldly pleasure as you may, but your end will ultimately be disastrous." The discourse concludes with the assertion that the one who fails to obtain guidance from Book like the Qur'an, can have no ether source in the world to afford him Guidance.

Source: Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi - Tafhim al-Qur'an- The Meaning of the Qur'an

Theme and Subject Matter:
Its theme is to affirm the Resurrection and Hereafter and to warn the people of the consequences which will ultimately follow the denial and the affirmation of these truths.

1. Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: Whoever recites it, it becomes a way of sincerity and a means of affection between him and Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.).
Surah al-Mursalaat (The Emissaries)
This is a ‘makki’ Surah and it has 50 ayaat. The Holy Prophet (S) has said that the one who recites this Surah will not be counted from the Mushrikeen (polytheists). He will always be victorious over his enemy.
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that drinking this Surah after it is written, and then dissolved in water that is mixed with the water from an onion, acts as a cure from aches and pains. Keeping this Surah, written on deerskin, as a talisman, enables one to reduce the amount of time he sleeps and he will be able to stay awake for a longer time.
Whoso recites this surah, knowing its meaning and interpretation, would sincerely love the Holy Prophet; would never associate others with Allah; and if he recites it at a time of quarrel or conflict with his opponent he would have an upper hand over his enemy; also a man-in-authority or a judge would also help him against his enemy.
ii) If this surah is written on a china plate, washed with onion water and given to a person who has stomach ache to drink, the pain would go.
