Infectopede is a game designed to help you learn about antibiotic spectrums and infectious diseases microbiology. The objective of the game is to shoot the pathogens with the optimal antibiotic. Two to three pathogens will appear at the top of the screen. Players will select an antibiotic, shoot the pathogen, and earn points based on how good the antibiotic is at killing the bacteria. Be careful to not hit any normal flora!

Some rounds will include a health modifier, like a penicillin allergy or pregnancy. These must be considered when selecting antibiotics. Help is available by tapping the screen during a game and hitting the Flash Cards button. You will be able to see the best antibiotics for each pathogen.

It takes 4 points to destroy a pathogen. The point system is:
* 4 points is awarded for optimal antibiotic choice for the pathogen
* 3 points for appropriate but not optimal antibiotics
* 2 points for fair but not optimal antibiotics
* 1 points for inferior antibiotics but are still active against the bacteria
* 0 points for inappropriate antibiotics or do not have coverage against the bacteria

Level 1: Bugs & Drugs. This level includes the most commonly used antibiotics and infecting pathogens.
Level 2: Infinity. This level includes common and rare pathogens and antibiotics.
Level 3: Skin infection. This level includes pathogens known to cause skin infections.
Level 4: HAP/VAP. This a faster level that includes pathogens known to cause hospital- and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Level 5: Sepsis. This is the fastest level that includes pathogens known to cause sepsis.
Infectopede learning objectives

1. Identify appropriate antimicrobials for a pathogen
2. Differentiate between appropriate and optimal antimicrobial therapy
3. Differentiate degree of damage to the microbiome between antimicrobials
