Teer is an old traditional archery game of North-Eastern part of India like Assam, Meghalaya, Shillong, Juwai, and Khanapara, etc. Teer is a game where the archers throw their arrow on the Teer target and at the same time, the other people predict a lucky number from 00 to 99. The first round of lottery starts at 3.30 pm and in a specific ground, a group of archers starts hitting a target point by arrows. Every archer hit 50 arrows. After hitting they count some arrows which hit the target. So, for example, if 234 arrows hit the target. The last two letters of this number will be winning numbers. So the winning number will be 34 on that specific day. The second round is also the same, but it starts at 4.30 pm. Counters are available almost everywhere in Shillong. This game is traditionally called as the “Thoh Tim”, the game has been around for quite some time and has become more prevalent in North East India. This game is played twice a day in different shifts. The Meghalaya state government had fully legalized the game in 1980.
