In this post, I am going to show you how to install Indo-Nias for AnySoftKeyboard on Windows PC by using Android App Player such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer, Nox, KOPlayer, ...

  1. Download and Install BlueStacks at: https://www.bluestacks.com. The installation procedure is quite simple. After successful installation, open the Bluestacks emulator. It may take some time to load the Bluestacks app initially. Once it is opened, you should be able to see the Home screen of Bluestacks.
  2. Open the APK/XAPK file: Double-click the APK/XAPK file to launch BlueStacks and install the application. Indo-Nias language pack is dedicated to bilingual Indonesians, who's mother tongue is Indonesian and Nias at the same time. They usually mix the languages in a sentence or a paragraph, especially when writing on social media groups.

It contains keyboard layouts with Nias characteristics, i.e. with characters ŵ and ö.

The spelling dictionary has over 17,000 Indonesian and Nias words. The Nias words list (contains almost 10,000 words) was mined from an unpublished translation of the New Testament by Fr. Hadrian Hess and Yulius Lahagu (with written permission). For improving the word frequency rate, additional words scrapped from Sura Ni'amoni'ö by jw.org were used.

The Indonesian words were built on top this dictionary found here. That dictionary has over 30,000 words, however after a week of marathon work to correct miss-spelling and remove rare words, the final list used in this language pack has just about 7,000 words.

Note:

Please make sure to install AnySoftKeyboard first, before using this language pack.

After installing this language pack run the AnySoftKeyboard app once to set it up.

Please select the IndonNias and IndoNias Kompak keyboards from AnySoftKeyboard's Settings and untick the English keyboard if not using it. In case you missed that during the setup, just run the AnySoftKeyboard app again, click the globe icon on the bottom of the screen (LANGUAGES), select ENABLE KEYBOARDS AND LANGUAGES, go to the end of the keyboard's list and select IndoNias and IndoNias Kompak.
