Apples Market proudly serves the Lorain County community with fresh, local produce, USDA Choice meats, full-service deli and bakery departments, and large selections of other fine foods!

Apples Market was founded in 1979 by the Brumfield Family of Wellington. Apples began as a “warehouse store” with locations in Elyria and Norwalk. In 1998, Bill Brumfield sold the company to Steve Krakomperger and Steve Pittenger, two of his long-time employees. “The Steve’s” transitioned Apples into a more conventional type of supermarket and in 2002 opened a new store on Meister Road in Lorain in a store that had been vacated by a competitor. In 2007, the partners opened another location in Sheffield Center after it was vacated when Tops Markets left the region. Further expansion occurred in 2009, when another location was opened in the Shoreway Shopping Center in Sheffield Lake. Steve Pittenger retired from the company in 2014, selling his interest to Steve and Tammie Krakomperger. Since that time, the Krakomperger family stepped in to keep a Geyer’s Foods location in Wellington open and now run that as Wellington Apples. The company prides itself on investing in communities and breathing life back into closed operations. The success of these stores would not have been possible without the support of the communities that they serve and all of their loyal customers.
