Alois is designed to help, entertain, and assist early-stage Alzheimer’s disease patients through a variety of settings. The user-friendly interface, designed for Alzheimer’s patients, has three primary functional tabs which are capable of a variety of tasks.

The first tab is an emergency and warning tab. At the top of the tab layout, users can find a table with the 5 FDA Approved Alzheimer’s medications (Aricept, Razadyne, Namenda, Exelon, Namzaric) and their most common side effects. Additionally, it contains the phone number for the police, along with the phone number for poison control. This tab also allows the user to pick an emergency contact from their phone contacts, such as a family member or personal doctor, for quick and easy reference. These functions help to consolidate important emergency information for Alzheimer’s patients into one place so that it is easy to find and not complicated.

The second tab of our app contains a game that helps users to improve their memory and coordination. The game consists of a 3x4 grid of square buttons that toggle between three colors (red, green, and grey) when pressed. It includes in-game instructions and features a “new task” button which prompts users with simple tasks to complete, and changes the task when the patient presses the button. It also includes instructions at the bottom for first-time users and as a helpful reminder. This game is a way to strengthen the memory and puzzle-solving skills of Alzheimer’s patients using our app.

The final tab of our app contains an interactive reminder space. This tab allows users to set personal alarms with customized names and text content, enabling users to remember important information and create scheduled to-do lists easily. These reminders can also be edited at any time by the user if they wish to change or cancel an alarm. This function ensures that patients can remember key timings, such as those when they have to take their medicine.

Alois is not liable for any damage or risk caused in emergency situations, specifically with the warnings tab of our application. Alois' services are not life-saving devices and are not replacements for calling emergency services. In case of an emergency, you should always contact your local emergency services right away, if you are able.
