Mrs. Bennet is anxious to see all her daughters, named Jane Bennet, Elizabeth Bennet, Mary Bennet, Kitty Bennet and Lydia Bennet, married well. This is because the family estate can only be passed to a male heir when Mr. Bennet dies.

The book revolves round the comedic plot of Mrs Bennet trying to find a wealthy match for at least one of the girls, to support the others.

The story in the Pride and Prejudice book starts with two gentlemen who have moved into their neighbourhood - the rich and eligible Mr Bingley, and his status-conscious friend, the even richer and more eligible Mr Darcy.

Mr Bingley takes an immediate liking to the eldest daughter, Jane Bennet, while Mr Darcy is disdainful of local society, and repeatedly clashes with the lively Elizabeth.

As a good reader, you will enjoy reading about the love story between the two young lovers, Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennet.
